Jurgen Klopp said Liverpool will be arriving at Manchester City on Tuesday aiming to win their Champions League quarterfinal second leg.

Liverpool are 3-0 up on aggregate following the first-leg victory at Anfield last week as they eye a place in the semifinals of the Champions League for the first time since 2008.

However, Klopp said sitting back and hoping to see out the tie with City is not option due to the attacking strength of the Premier League leaders.

"We are here to not concede and to score to win the game. There is no other plan," Klopp said.

"It is not about coming through. We know that if you get passive against City, you do not have to come. If you are active and good, you have a chance.

"If we concede a goal, nothing changes. We are still in the lead. It is all about doing the right things, staying in the mood where we can bring in our strengths. Playing in the right spaces, defending in the right spaces, attacking them in the right spaces.

"It would be the same if they were 3-0 up. It would not change anything. Just defending against City is not the solution. That is why we should not try it."

If Liverpool score once on Tuesday, City would need to score five to go through.

Liverpool, though, have already surrendered a three-goal lead in Europe this season as they drew 3-3 with Sevilla in November. They were also beaten at City 5-0 in September when Sadio Mane was sent off in the first half.

"Of course we are different," Klopp said. "When we lost here 5-0, it was clear already that City is a fantastic team. We conceded one goal, we had our chances, then the red card.
