The Football Association of Zambia have announced a new sponsorship deal with telecommunications giant MTN, with FAZ President Andrew Kamanga confirming the details of the partnership in a statement on Monday.

MTN are committing to backing Zambian football to the tune of $4.5 million over three years, with Kamanga revealing that the league winners now stand to pocket 500,000 Zambian Kwacha - the equivalent of just over $52,000.

FAZ's previous sponsorship deal was $3 million over three years, and the increase will see all 20 Zambian top flight clubs receiving K200,000 - a significant leap from the K7,000 that they were previously set to earn.

"All participants in the MTN Super League are guaranteed a participating fee of K200, 000 compared to K7, 000 for the last finishers on the league previously," Kamanga began, as per a statement on FAZ's official Facebook page. "This presents a 2,757% increase.

"The Association is particularly excited with MTN's decision to increase its sponsorship package to US1.5 million per year with US$300, 000 being in kind.
