Chargers meet with QB Baker Mayfield before Oklahoma pro day

A contingent of Los Angeles Chargers brass met with Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield the day before his pro day Wednesday, according to a report by ESPNs Jake Trotter.

Per a report by Tony Pauline of, that contingent included Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt and quarterbacks coach Shane Steichen.

The Chargers select No. 17 overall in next month's draft and are potentially looking for an eventual replacement for quarterback Philip Rivers. General manager Tom Telesco has taken only one quarterback during his time with the Chargers: Brad Sorensen in the seventh round of the 2013 draft.

Trotter reports the Denver Broncos, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Jets, the Cleveland Browns, the New Orleans Saints and the Buffalo Bills are among the teams either planning to meet with Mayfield in Norman, Oklahoma, looking to fly him to their facilities, or both.
