Shiffrin's mother: Mikaela to skip super-G

American skier Mikaela Shiffrin's bid for five gold medals at the Pyeongchang Games wo not be possible because of the postponement earlier in the week of two women's Alpine races.

Shortly after Shiffrin took gold in Thursday's giant slalom -- which had been postponed from Monday -- her mother and coach, Eileen Shiffrin, said the compressed schedule will force her daughter to skip Saturday's super-G race.

"She will have raced and trained -- or tried to race -- for six days in a row," said Eileen Shiffrin. "She has to have a day off."
