TOP STORY: Stoke's Butland to Liverpool?

Liverpool could be set to crack open the Philippe Coutinho piggy bank and reinvest some of the 142 million raised from the Brazilian's exit in Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland.

According to the Daily Star, Jurgen Klopp is eyeing Butland as a potential upgrade on current number one Simon Mignolet, who came under fire for his performance in the 3-3 draw at Arsenal before Christmas.

There are also doubts surrounding Loris Karius' long-term future at Anfield, with the German failing to dislodge Mignolet after an error-strewn run in the team last season.

Butland, 24, is believed to have ambitious plans for his career and would be a more affordable target than alternatives such as Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel and Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak.
