Falcons' first-rounder Takk McKinley could get look on special teams

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Atlanta Falcons first-round draft pick Takkarist McKinley found himself playing guard on the punt team during Sunday's practice.

Seeing the defensive end from UCLA sprinting down the field during the drill was somewhat of a surprise, considering McKinley continues to work back from March shoulder surgery and did not play in last Thursday's exhibition opener at Miami. But the possibility of McKinley getting some special-teams reps also might be a positive sign that he's fully healthy and ready for game action.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn was asked if special teams is something he wants McKinley to try.

"Yep," Quinn responded.
