Saints' Drew Brees gets animated after practice-ending sack

METAIRIE, La. -- It was a hot day at New Orleans Saints camp Sunday, but nobody was more heated than quarterback Drew Brees on the first-string offenses final snap of the day.

Brees threw down his helmet and shouted his frustration after a sack ended the simulated hurry-up drive. Most observers agreed it was the most animated outburst they could remember from Brees on the practice field.

But the veteran QBs intensity is well-known -- and coaches applauded him for demanding a higher standard.

A pressure came to us that we had to respond to differently, and the guys did not see it and did not communicate it, offensive line coach Dan Roushar said. But it wont happen again. Not when he goes like that. I thought it was awesome.

It was an ugly play for multiple reasons. With seven seconds on the clock, inside the 20-yard line, needing four points, the play started with center Josh LeRibeus sailing a shotgun snap over Brees head -- which has been a frequent problem in camp.

But Brees was apparently more upset about the blown protection issue.
