Panama cruises past Martinique to reach Gold Cup quarterfinals

Panama booked its place in the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over Martinique in Cleveland on Saturday.

Michael Murillo, Abdiel Arroyo and Gabriel Torres had the goals as the Central American nation cruised.

The result also ensured the United States, Mexico and Jamaica advanced to the knockout stage as well. Costa Rica, Canada and Honduras all advanced from Group A on Friday.

The breakthrough came just before halftime following a corner that was played short, as Murillo headed in Miguel Camargo's cross.
